Basalt and Granite Flooring and Tiles
Both these stones are formed as a result of volcanic activity and are amongst some of the hardest natural stones known to man. Granite is formed from molton magma deep below the earths crust which has cooled over millions of years and solidified. Basalt is the result of molton magma erupting from volcannoes and cooling quickly forming a solid mass.
Aged Travertine Flooring and Tiles
These travertines are aged to give a rustic worn look.
Stonell has introduced a wide variety of travertine tiles which can be tumbled, brushed or pillowed to produce an aged finish. These aged tiles are usually supplied unfillled and the holes can be filled with a matching coloured grout on installation to produce the characteristic variety of shade. Unfilled tiles and tumbled travertine creating an aged look soon after initial use, all of which are guaranteed to enhance your home.
Whilst at Stonell we only select from the dense lower travertine beds, due to the way travertine is formed, small holes that lie beneath the surface that may appear during the first few months of wear. These can be easily filled with grout, giving decades of hard wear.
Timeless Range
Our Timeless stone collection is a range of classic Limestone, Slate and Travertine tiles to provide you with a budget option when buying stone for your home.
Slate Flooring and Tiles
Slate is a very fine-grained rock comprised mostly of microscopic clay minerals, with traces of quartz and calcite. The alteration of shale by heat and pressure produces the pronounced partings (slate cleavage) which give slate its characteristics.
Slate is equally at home in both contemporary and traditional design schemes with the added bonus of being very hard-wearing.
Marble Flooring and Tiles
Given enough heat and pressure, limestone will crystallise, resulting in marble, which is technically termed 'metamorphic limestone'.The crystal structure of marble allows it to take a high polish which accentuates the beautiful colours and veining for which it is famous although a smooth matt finish is preferred by many for a contemporary, gentler look.
Stonell offers a wide range of marbles from all parts of the world for every kind of project.
Aged Limestone Flooring and Tiles
These Aged Limestones have distressed finishes. Limestone can be distressed in a number of ways to create a look that makes the stone look old and worn. The stone maybe chipped, tumbled, pillowed, bush hammered or brushed. For those seeking a less rustic look, Stonell offer the exclusive Pillowed edge Collection available in large format up to 1200x600in a range of stones.
Limestone's wide array of shades, colours textures and durability make it a very popular stone for both traditional and contemporary interiors.

English Limestone
We are very excited to be able to offer this exclusive range of English Limestone sourced from quarrys throughout the Midlands and East Anglia. All of these traditional limestones come from the band of limestone deposits stretching from Norfolk and Lincolnshire through Northamptonshire and into the Cotswolds. Whilst these limestones were once commonly used in all the traditional buildings in these areas they haven't been widely available for some time, that is until now.
